Romper – on sale!; Similar wedges here – on sale!; Karen Walker sunglasses
At the beginning of summer, I spotted this Alice & Olivia romper at Nordstrom when I was lucky enough to have a few moments to myself before meeting my husband for a date night. I fell for the army green silk and simple yet flattering high elastic waist at first sight; I loved the button detailing in the front, and when I tried on the romper in the dressing room, I couldn’t believe the genius addition of a zipper in the back, making this little number a cinch to take on and off. The thing about rompers is that while they make it easy to look put together, they can turn into a huge hassle when you wear one out for drinks or dinner and realize that polish comes at a price – you might be spending a good five minutes undressing in the bathroom every time you need to pee, dealing with buttons and hooks and snaps. This outfit does away with all that nonsense. I wore this romper out of the dressing room and to dinner with my husband, asking the Nordstrom salesgirl to please cut off the tags for me before I paid and throwing the dress I’d been wearing in a shopping bag instead. I’m not sure I’ve been so excited to wear something out of the store since I got new shoes at Buster Brown when I was five. Needless to say, I’ve worn this romper non-stop all summer: happy hours, dinners, lunch meetings, coffee. I love pairing it with my favorite sky-high wedges (similar here) but plan to continue wearing this outfit through fall with knee high boots and a leather jacket. You lucky ducks can get this romper right now on sale at Alice & Olivia or Bloomingdale’s. I can’t even be upset that I forked over full price because this bad boy has more than paid his sartorial dues for me this summer.
