Did you get the memo? Skinny jeans are out. Flares are in. You know what I have to say about that?
Hallelujah!
Sayonara, skinnies. I have no problem ditching you…well, mostly. I read that skinny jeans are actually still acceptable – they are just no longer considered a “fashion cut”. I hope that’s not code for being relegated to “mom jeans” status, because I do actually like tucking jeans into boots during a Colorado snowstorm. Until the skinny jean trend of the past 6 or 7 years, I’d only ever worn bootcut jeans, and I remember how liberating it felt to not worry about my jean hems dragging through mud and slush.
But I digress.
Flared jeans are so much more flattering than their narrow counterparts, and I like that they mostly demand you define your waist, hence the emergence of so many high-waisted styles. I invested in a few pairs of wide-legged jeans last year, and I’ll continue to add to my collection this fall. Here are some of the pairs on my Wishlists over at The Great Temptresses of Online Shopping, Shopbop and Revolve Clothing.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I must go ring the tailor, because the only downside to these hot jeans is that they are made for giraffes – and I, at 5’1″, am nowhere near giraffe stature. Happy denim-ing!
